Neil Island


Neil Island is also known as Shahid deep. Neil is a tiny Island and 1 day is enough to cover it, but the marine life is very diverse and unmatched. Neil offers a few dive sites with untouched live corals scattered around and cascading marine life. Neil Island has some most visited beaches named Sitapur beach, Ram Nager beach, Laxmanpur beach, and Bharatpur beach.    


can nonswimmers do scuba diving?


The simple answer is YES, anyone can go for scuba diving provided they are mentally and physically fit to dive. Scuba diving in Andaman for non swimmers is an extremely safe and adventurous underwater sport. Your divemaster will take you to the deep waters and take care of you during the whole diving program. You have to undergo 30 to 45 minutes of training before your underwater dive. 


Eligibility criteria for scuba diving


The minimum age for scuba diving is 12 years and the maximum age is 50 years. A person beyond 50 years of age is not eligible for scuba diving.  A person suffering or suffered (6 months earlier) from the following diseases may have issues with scuba diving.


  • Diabetes
  • Ear infection
  • Hearing diseases, balance problems, and hearing loss
  • Skin allergies and lung diseases
  • Suffering from Asthma or a history of Asthma
  • System disorders, mental or psychological problems
  • Recent chest surgery and collapsed lungs
  • History of heart attack and strokes
  • Blackouts and fainting issues and taking medications to control them 
  • Panic attacks or fear of open and closed spaces
  • Sugar and high blood pressure    
  • Colostomy and bleeding or blood disorders
  • Leg, back, and arm injuries, fractures, and surgery
  • A person with pregnancy or could be pregnant. 
  • Taking medications for any of the diseases mentioned above


Note: The above health conditions don’t necessarily mean that a person can’t dive. It depends on the nature of the disease, severity of the disease, treatment process, and the current status of the medical conditions. In some cases, a person can be allowed to dive provided he/she produces a fitness certificate from his physician.
