The process of Snorkeling is described as swimming on the water surface while equipped with a designed tube known as Snorkel. (Snorkel is a long tube produced using plastic or elastic and around 35 cm long. It is generally L or J shaped and fixed with the mouth at the lower end. Snorkel is used to breathe air over the water surface area when the snorkeler's mouth and nose are submerged underwater. ) The equipment is useful for snorkelers to experience underwater attractions for a long time with a small effort.

A person can experience Snorkeling activities during any time of the year. However, the winter season is an ideal time for Snorkeling in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The temperature fluctuates between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius from November to May which is favorable for sightseeing and indulging in water sports.    


Age restrictions for Snorkeling in Andaman


The Government has imposed some age limitations for safe snorkeling in Havelock Island. Any person over 10 years and below 60 years of age is allowed for safe snorkeling along with proper safety gear and under the supervision of a trained instructor.
